I obtained my first typewriter about 8 years ago. It was Royal KMM (I believe) with a wide carriage. It had belonged originally to an institution that housed folks with mental challenges. My friend had come to own it, and he overheard me say I was looking for a manual typewriter. We worked out a trade, his typewriter for my 6 pack of Guiness Beer that I had in the fridge. I feel like I came out on the best end of that deal.
